The most popular hiking trail in Finland, the legendary Karhunkierros, takes you to the best places in Oulanka National Park. Karhunkierros offers hikers plenty of breathtaking views and sweaty kilometers. This route is a must to hike at least once in a lifetime!
You can only pay the reservation fee (€70) when booking the hike. After confirming the reservation, you will receive an invoice by e-mail, which is due 30 days before the start of the hike.
There are two pricing options:
Standard package (including hiking gear) – 329 €
Light – only guided hike (no gear included) – 235 €
You can ask about specific gear for a rent by submitting a question via the contact form.
Group size is 4 – 8 people. The hike will be organized if there will be minimum number of participants (4). In case that hike is cancelled, all payments will be refunded.

Hike duration is 3 days (2 nights)
Price includes:
– Guide on the hike
– Transportation to and from the route
– Accommodation for a night prior to hike (2 person per room)
– Hiking gear (as described in our blog post)
– Comprehensive preparation package for a hike (includes e.g. safety plan as well and list of mandatory and recommended items for a hike)
– Finnish National Parks visitor fees
You should bring:
– Appropriate clothing
– Good and used hiking shoes
– Personal items – list will be provided with the comprehensive preparation package)
– Hike meals and snack for the hike
– Camera or phone to store the memories during the hike
We have also an light option available, which means that you will just join the hike with your own gear. Light version does not include

Route description
On this hike, you will experience the best views and scenery of the Karhunkierros in a compact package, with total length of 50 kilometers. We will hike part of the entire route from Ristikallio to Juuma.
The night before the hike, we gather and spend the evening together at the premises of Ruva Holiday (Sallantie 203, Kuusamo). You can leave your car at the accommodation while hiking. Transportation from Ruka to the accommodation after the hike is included in the price. You can also request other transportation options in Kuusamo and Ruka regions.
During the evening, we go through the gear, pack the backpacks and go through the hike in more detail, without forgetting important safety instructions. In the morning we enjoy a nutritious breakfast, fill our hot water bottles with coffee and prepare for the day.
After breakfast, we have transportation to the starting point of the hike, Ristikallio starting point, where we start our hike in Oulanka National Park.
Day 1
We will hake from Ristikallio to Oulanka Camping. The length of day hike is around 18 kilometers.
Day 2
We will hake from Oulanka Camping to Jussinkämppä wilderness hut. The length of day hike is about 17 kilometers
Day 3
We will hake from Jussinkämppä to Juuma. The length of day hike is about 15 kilometers.
