The Oulanka Adventure combines all the best ways to explore nature! Hike, canoe and bike – one could call this as Oulanka Triathlon.
Duration of this adventure is 3 days (2 nights). Length of the route is about 90 kilometers. We will hike, canoe and bike through the Oulanka National Park all the way to Ruka. We are staying in tents overnight.
Adventure will take place 14.7 – 16.7.2023. This adventure is also available for private groups per request.
Price for the hike is 515 €
You can only pay the reservation fee (€70) when booking the hike. After confirming the reservation, you will receive an invoice by e-mail, which is due 30 days before the start of the hike.
Group size is 4 – 6 people. The hike will be organized if there will be minimum number of participants (4). In case that hike is cancelled, all payments will be refunded.

Duration of this adventure is 3 days (2 nights). Length of the route is about 90 kilometers. We will hike, canoe and bike through the Oulanka National Park all the way to Ruka. We are staying in tents overnight.
Price includes:
– Guide on the hike
– Transportation to and from the route
– Accommodation for a night prior to hike (2 person per room)

– Camping fee on Oulanka Camping for first night stay
– Hiking gear (as described in our blog post)
– Comprehensive preparation package for a hike (includes e.g. safety plan as well and list of mandatory and recommended items for a hike)
– Finnish National Parks visitor fees
You should bring:
– Appropriate clothing
– Good and used hiking shoes
– Personal items – list will be provided with the comprehensive preparation package)
– Hike meals and snack for the hike
– Camera or phone to store the memories during the hike
Route description
The night before the hike, we gather and spend the evening together at the premises of Ruva Holiday (Sallantie 203, Kuusamo). You can leave your car at the accommodation while hiking. Transportation from Ruka to the accommodation after the hike is included in the price. You can also request other transportation options in Kuusamo and Ruka regions.
During the evening, we go through the gear, pack the backpacks and go through the hike in more detail, without forgetting important safety instructions. In the morning we enjoy a nutritious breakfast, fill our hot water bottles with coffee and prepare for the day.
After breakfast, we have transportation to the starting point of the adventure, Ristikallio starting point, where we start our hike in Oulanka National Park. First day we will hike about 18 kilometers and stay overnight in Oulanka Camping..
On the second day we will hike from Oulanka Camping to Mataranniemi (2 kilometers) where we will start our canoeing experience. Our canoeing route takes us to the most beautiful canoeing route in Europe. This route is about 25 kilometers long and we will canoe it all the way to Huotinniemi, where we will stay over night.
Third day we will cross the Oulanka river to Kuusinkiniemi. We will leave our canoes to the shore and switch to eFatbikes that are waiting for us. We can also leave our backpacks with canoes to be transported to Ruka while we are biking.
The length of the day is around 40 km and we will drive mostly with small gravel roads but also part on Karhunkierros trail.
From Ruka we will have transportation back to starting point.
